INVITATION TO HARVEST

This Sunday, October 8, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, we invite shareholders and their families to visit the farm to see our recovery effort firsthand and to harvest vegetables. The weather is expected to be beautiful. We have a few crops in good supply and would love to see them used rather than returned to the soil.

As I walked around the fields today, I saw Arugula, Celeriac, four kinds of Chard, several kinds of lettuce, Pink Beauty Radishes, Komatsuna, Tatsoi, Braising Mix, Italian and Asian Eggplants, Italian Dandelion, curley and flat leaf Parsley, baby Beets and a few kinds of herbs. There are also some hidden treasures such as a few carrots in weed choked beds and some Broccoli Raab that is pretty small but still edible. We don't yet have eniough variety to start deliveries again, but we do have lots of food. A few of us will be on hand to assist shareholders, and Laura is planning to visit one of our rented fields to harvest some peppers which will be available on Sunday.

If you are planning to come, please email us at cbproduce@comcast.net so that Laura can get an idea of how many peppers to harvest. You can find directions to the farm on the Events at the Farm page. We realize that this is no substitute for a delivery of produce, but it's better than nothing, which is what we are currently providing.
